Theri Dejoode Director (Owner) Barbette
Theri’s passion for technical precision and customized cutting led to the creation of groom for men. Her credentials have included: BA Communication Arts UWM, training with Vidal Sassoon, Education Director at Art & Science in Evanston, IL, and Technical Director with American Crew. Considered a global expert in the haircutting industry, she created multi-level curricula taught worldwide, and 15 years of fashion-forward collections. She has trained salon stylists, session stylists, educators and platform artists. She created a course that identifies cutting techniques that offers customization. Cause and effect cutting is now the foundation of groom.
Theri’s is proud for stylists to have a solid profession with earning potential.
Her conversations revolve around business, travel, spiritual growth and hope.
She still loves cutting hair.
Amy Master Barbette
With 15 years of experience behind the chair, Amy brings passion, precision, and creativity to every cut. She draws inspiration from men of the mid 90’s. Her work blends classic influence with a modern touch. She creates timeless looks that feel both relaxed and intentional. Outside of the shop, she is a mom to three dogs, a dedicated bird watcher, and is always ready to eat steak. There is lots of laughter around Amy’s chair – wonderfully and wildly enjoyable.
ASHLEY Master Barbette
Ashley likes working with men who take pride in how they show up. Specializing in tailored cuts, structured fades, and refined classic styles, she blends old-school barbering influence with modern technique. Inspired by timeless masculinity updated for today’s man, her work is clean, intentional, and built to last between appointments. Whether you prefer a rugged, textured look or a sharp executive finish, every cut is designed with structure, balance, and confidence in mind. Her talent, grounding presence, and reliability make her highly regarded. Besides being a barbette, she supports education and leads groom’s outreach, donations, events, and public relations.
josepha Master Barbette
Josepha has worked with groom for over 10 years. Her work is highly detailed and leans to classic shape. She expands her creativity with longer cuts that leans to the rock/punk era. She knows the difference between trends and classics and creates customized cuts appropriate to the individual. She wants you to feel relaxed and comfortable during your time in the chair. Outside of the salon, she draws inspiration from music, art, nature, vintage and oddities.
lola Master Barbette
After spending several years in the industry, Lola joined groom to further elevate her men’s cutting skills. She likes working with all lengths and styles from clean, classic cuts to longer, more textured looks. She loves the energy and community groom has created in the Third Ward. It inspires her every day. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Chalsey Senior Barbette
After several years in the corporate world working in men’s apparel, Chelsey took her love for men’s fashion and grooming and turned it into a new passion – barbering!
Her favorite part about working in the industry is being able to make wonderful, genuine connections with her clients. Getting to be a part of helping you look and feel your best, every day, for every milestone, is the most rewarding feeling!
Outside of barbering, you can find Chelsey spending time outside with her son, husband, and dog Ginger, at the gym, or baking!
Mahala Direction (Education) Barbette

Mahala is passionate about growth—both for her team and her clients. She is responsible for teaching new employees as well as keeping the craft alive with advanced education for the entire team. She empowers clients with the knowledge to style their hair confidently at home. Her approach to men’s grooming focuses on subtle refinements that elevate a haircut and make it work better day to day. She is slowly becoming a veteran of the industry.
When not in the shop, she hikes with her dog Vader.
Mahala’s life is warm with friends and family.
sally Barbette
Originally from Chicago, Sally brings nearly eight years of experience behind the chair. While she may be one of the newer faces at groom for men, she’s no stranger to the craft. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Sally approaches barbering with an artist’s mindset. Her eye for men’s cuts, clean fades, and precise scissor work allows her to elevate each client’s look. To her, barbering is more than a service — it’s craftsmanship. She has a great vibe and makes every visit an experience worth coming back for.
Fun fact: she proudly serves in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant.
Carly Director (Retail) Barbette
Carly’s history at groom brought her to have the strongest client retention behind the chair. Carly is a Lego enthusiast and an avid video gamer. She’s a Legend of Zelda fanatic, so much so that she has even named her cat after the villain, Ganondorf. When not at work or gaming, she can be found in-line or ice skating, going to shows at The Rave, basically living out her teenage dreams.
Kayla Desk Jockey Director
Kayla has been a valued member of the groom for men team since 2016. She stepped into her role as our Front Desk Director in 2022. With a strong attention to detail and a natural ability to keep things running smoothly, she helps create a seamless experience for both clients and staff. If anything needs fixing, she’s our go-to gal.
Known around the salon as our resident dog sitter, Kayla’s love for animals extends far beyond the front desk. On weekends, you can catch her at a concert or relaxing at home with her cat, Jasper.
Chelsea Desk Jockey
Chelsea grew up in the Madison area, moving to Milwaukee for college and putting down roots in Bayview after graduation. She lives with her husband and dog Kimber. Chelsea enjoys cooking, baking, gardening and spending time with friends and family. She has worked at the desk at groom since 2021 and brings her service industry and arts background to assist with graphic design projects and connect with customers.
andrea Desk Jockey
Andrea has been on our front desk team since 2012. She is here part-time when she’s not working at her full-time Office Manager position. She brings many years of customer service experience, people skills, and her multitasking abilities to groom. When Andrea is not at groom, she is hanging out with family and friends and winning concert tickets.
emmarose assistant
EmmaRose has been coming to groom with her mom since she was a little girl and loves the upbeat environment of the salon! Outside of work, she studies Psychology, Counseling, and American Sign Language at UW-Milwaukee. In her free time, she loves to explore the city and spend time with friends. EmmaRose anticipates continuing to work at groom while working towards attaining her professional counselor license. Her capabilities of multitasking with a fast pace, plus attention for everyone’s comfort, make her a wonderful support for all.
angelo assistant
Angelo started at groom in 2024. He helps keep the salon running smoothly and efficiently; he has become our fix-it guy. He services clients with shampoos, waxing, and a variety of random fact-telling. He is a student at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, studying Geoscience. Outside of school and groom, he keeps active by skating and biking. He has lots of finite skills which he throws into his hobbies: sewing/making clothes, playing the bass guitar, and playing video games.
adamaris assistant
Ada has been assisting at groom since 2023. You will see her bright smile shining while she takes care of the general pace, comforts and cleanliness of the salon. When not working at groom, she is working toward a degree in the dental field. Free time for her is spent with friends. It probably includes shopping. Being in her teen years in 2026, it feels natural to like to shop; she seems to think this is a teenage thing. We will see.
